And so, the summer term is upon us and with it arrives SATs tests. On the week beginning 11th May, the Year 6 children will be taking the following tests:
| Date | Activity |
|---|---|
| Monday 11 May 2026 | English grammar, punctuation and spelling Papers 1 and 2 |
| Tuesday 12 May 2026 | English reading |
| Wednesday 13 May 2026 | Mathematics Papers 1 and 2 |
| Thursday 14 May 2026 | Mathematics Paper 3 |
School will provide a special SATs breakfast for all children and we ask that they are in school promptly - breakfast is served from 8.30 and the doors to the Americas corridor will be open.
Following SATs, there will be lots of other fun activities, such as Residential (and fun in school for those not going), the Leaver's Production (Bugsy Malone), the Leaver's Assembly and, most fun of all, the Leaver's Party. The staff look forward to these events as much as the children!!
Have a great term,
Mr Abbott
Welcome back, pardners, to the Spring Term. It's cold outside, but the work inside is heating up! With SATs just over the horizon, we are working hard on our English and Maths every morning (lots of the 3 R's) and then throwing in a few sessions of revision (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons for 45 minutes) to help out with anything that may be a little bit tricky.
Of course, we will still be doing work in other curriculum areas - looking at Science, PSHE, and more, and on the 26th January, we will be taking a short trip to complete a Geography survey based on the work we have been doing at the end of Autumn and during the first weeks of the Spring Term.
We may even, towards the tail end of this term, start thinking about our Year 6 Leaver's Production which, this year, will be Bugsy Malone! We'll start to learn the songs and begin thinking about costumes.
I hope you all have a great Spring and that it warms up soon!
Mr Abbott
Howdy, pardners, and welcome to the Wild West, the rootingest, tootingest class in the whole of Year Six!
We have the most exciting year ahead of us! There will, of course, be a whole lot of hard work - all of which will lead up to the SATs tests in May - but we'll also have a lot of fun, including our residential trip to Newby Wiske, our Leaver's Production and our Leaver's Celebration (more news on that to come!).
This year, our timetable will run on a two-weekly basis - see below - so that we cover everything that our curriculum wants from us. In Science, we will be studying light, circuits and batteries; in History, we take a look at the impact of World War Two on those left at home, while in Computing, we study the work of those problem-solvers at Bletchley Park; our Geography topic looks at population increases and decreases; in DT, we design and make a waistcoat (for a furry and cuddly friend) and in Art we create photo montages, using our own photography skills. There's a lot to get through before Craft Week and the Christmas Fayre in December, but we will do our very best to fit everything in!
While we're here, just a few reminders:
Here's to a fabulous Autumn Term and a brilliant Year 6,
See you soon, Cowboys!
Mr Abbott
