I am in school today and it is very quiet! I am missing the usual noise and laughter coming from the reception classrooms. I hope you are all busy playing and doing some home learning. If your grown ups are running out of ideas for you then here are a couple of links that may be of use:
White Rose Maths are doing daily a 'Maths Party' on You Tube for each year group. We use their resources in school so they would be worth watching. Click on the link to their web page and there is a link to their home learning resources.
The National Literacy Trust have produced a 'Family Zone' on their website with ideas and links to other activities.
Another idea is to think of something you would like to find out more about and do a mini-project about it. You could read about your interest, look up facts on the internet and then draw and write about it. I would love to see your
mini-project work when I see you next! What will you learn about?
my body? dinosaurs? animals? pirates? unicorns? castles? a different country?
Please remember to keep practising your phonic sounds and numbers each day as well as do some reading. There are videos of Miss Chapman and me on the Home Learning section to help you practise your phonics sounds.
- Can you recognise all the numbers 0-20?
- Can you say '1 more' than numbers 0-20?
- Can you say 'one less' than numbers 0-20?
- Can you add two sets of objects together and write the number sentence (i.e.1+2=3)?
- Can you get some objects, take some away & find out how many left? Can you write the number sentence (i.e.3-2=1)?
- Can you double 1,2,3,4 and 5?
- Can you share some objects between members of your family? (i.e. 6 apples between 3 people - how many each?)
Don't forget to keep active too. Joe Wicks, Jumpstart Jonny and Cosmic Yoga are all on You Tube and worth looking at.
Finally, remember to keep being good for your grown-ups and help at home as much as you can. Grown ups thank you for everything you are doing with your Icicle, just do as much as you can but above all just enjoy spending time playing and talking with them. Look after each other and stay safe.
Icicles have a virtual hug from me, missing you lots!
Hi there Icicles, Happy Tuesday!
I have been busy today going food shopping for my family and helping my two girls do their school work. I am in school tomorrow so will put some more ideas on this page for things for you to be doing at home if you have run out of ideas. I hope you have managed to practise your phonics sounds, numbers and done some reading. I am sure you are all having lots of fun playing with your toys. Hopefully the sunshine will come back so you can play outside more, although don't forget jumping in rain puddles is lots of fun! Are you all being helpful at home too - have you help set the table, done some washing up or tidied away your toys? I hope so!
I can't wait to hear all about what you have been up to - I am really missing you all.
Take care my Icicles and look after your grown-ups too!
Star of the Week Friday 27/3
I was just sitting here thinking we should have been announcing 'Star of the Week' in assembly this afternoon. This week you are all 'Stars of the Week' as are all your grown ups! I hope you have been enjoying some of the activities from the home learning pack, had fun playing with your toys and been helpful at home too! I do hope you have all stayed on green all week - I bet you have! It will have been very different having school at home this week - for you and your grown ups! Well done for everything you have done. I will post again next week with some ideas you might like to try at home.
Take care all my little stars and grown up stars
I miss you and am thinking of you every day!

Hello my lovely Icicles! Hope you are all doing lots of fun things at home and being very good for your grown ups.
I have been busy doing some work for school, trying to get my two girls to do their school work (much harder getting an 11 and 15 year old to do their work than all of you 4 and 5 year olds put together!!) and looking after my new puppy. He is called Buddy and is an eight weeks old cocker spaniel. He is very cute and behaves himself most of the time although he does love to try and bite your socks and has chewed through a laptop cable already! My other dogs and cats are getting to know him and they are becoming good friends. I have done the Joe Wicks exercises each morning, have you had a go at that too? I bet you are better at them than me! Here is a picture of Buddy. he loves playing in the garden and eating the grass!
Take care my Icicles - I am missing you lots!

See https://www.spreadthehappiness.co.uk/ for more details.
They also have a list of '100 Things to do Indoors' - see how many you can get ticked off while you are at home!
Take Care and I will post again soon.......Mrs Aitken xx
Welcome to our class page!
Class teacher: Mrs Aitken
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Bell
Children: 29 fantastic four and five year olds!
We are off on a learning journey together this year that we are sure will be amazing, interesting and lots of fun! We hope you will enjoy looking at what we get up to along the way!.........
We had a great day celebrating books. We loved coming to school in our pyjamas ready to 'curl up with a good book'!We started the day with an assembly where the teachers all told us the story of 'The Day the Crayons Quit'. Mrs Aitken was the white crayon! Then we had hot chocolate and a biscuit in the library with a story and time to look at books. Whenever the Minions laughed over the tannoy we had to stop what we were doing and Mrs Aitken read us a story - this happened four times!! we also spent time looking at the books we had brought in from home. We finished the day watching a Cbeebies bedtime storytime - The Kitchen Disco. What a super day we had!!
