Reception -Penguins

We are the Penguins!

Welcome to Penguins. 

We hope you enjoy looking at what we get up to in our class and following our learning journey. We are all very excited to be at school and are enjoying finding out and learning lots of new things.

World Book Day 2025... 

We have had lots of fun celebrating books today! 

We have shared our favourite books, had a performance from year 6 and buddied up for some shared reading.

We are designers and makers... 

We have been researching types of boats and people who would use them. 

We are a good team... 

This week we had to work together to build dens. We had to persevere when things were tricky. 

We are designers and scientists... 

To kick off our Boat topic in DT we have been investigating which materials are waterproof. 

We are artists... 

This week we have been exploring clay. 

We are geographers... 

We have been learning about our local area of Darlington. We loved hearing about the first passenger train ride. This term we are going to be looking at different places around the world and the UK and see how they compare to where we live. 

We are designers and makers...

We explored junk modelling, cutting and ways of joining. We then used this learning to plan and create our own junk models. Check them out... 

We are artists...

We have been looking at observational drawing and used this skill to draw our faces. 

We are mathematicians...

We are historians...

The children loved looking at baby photos and working out which classmates they matched. 

We are artists... 

The new penguins have loved exploring our classroom and outside environment.
