Year 1 - Koalas

I'm Mrs Wharton and I'll be teaching Koala Class this year. You can check out this page to find updates on what we've been up to and have a look at what we've been learning.

Take a look at some of the things we got up to in the Spring Term. We made some entries for the spirited arts competition, the theme for year 1 was 'Hands that Help the Future'. In DT we made our very own puppets to use to narrate the story of Little Red Riding Hood. The spring fayre was the perfect opportunity to show off our Easter Bonnets. In Geography we were looking at what the weather is like here in the UK so went outside to explore the signs of spring! In maths we have lots of fun exploring capacity and volume. One of the best days was of course, WORLD BOOK DAY where we came to school as our favourite characters and made our very own puppet theatres. It was a jam packed half term, we can't wait to see what summer term brings!

Take a look at what we have been doing so far...

Science - We explored the KS1 outside area to see which different materials we could find and what they were used for.

History - We are looking at how toys have changed, Mrs Abbott came to talk to us about what toys were like when she was a child. She kindly let us explore some of her old toys!

DT - We have been exploring different ways to join material so that we can pick the most effective way to make our own puppets.

RE - We are learning about Judaism, we explored some objects related to our new topic and then discussed what they were.
