Welcome to New York!
Welcome to the start of a very exciting year ... Year 6!
Year 6 is going to be a busy year, but it's also an exciting year. We will be voting for and deciding on our Pupil Leadership team very soon, we'll be crafting in December with our Christmas Craft Fair, SATs in May, heading to Newby Wiske in June for our residential and then in July, we'll be producing and performing a Leaver's Show.
In between all of that, we will also be learning a great variety of things. In English, we'll be looking at some Amazing Creatures, studying the novel Skellig, by David Almond, taking a night-time ride with the Highwayman and much much more. In Maths, we'll be practising our four operations, looking at fractions, decimals and percentages, converting measures and, eventually, touching on everybody's favourite aspect of Maths - algebra. In Science, we will study light, electricity, the human circulatory system, classification and evolution, while our History topics will take us back to World War 2, and also provide insight into a variety of historical figures. Along the way, we'll look at the Geography subjects of population, and where our energy comes from, design and make waistcoats and learn a variety of photographic techniques. What a lot of learning!
Just a quick reminder that our PE session this year is on a Tuesday afternoon, and that everyone should come to school in their PE kit.
Let's see what fun this year brings!
