In preparation for the Annual Christmas Craft Fayre, Sri Lanka prepared a beautiful reindeer hanging decoration, packs of home made chocolate 'bombs' and counted out the number of sweets for our customers to guess!

Exploring Frame Structures

In this lesson we explored different frame structures to test which are the most stable using spaghetti and blue tack

Pavilion Frame

Then, using the design brief, we built a strong frame structure for a pavilion using a range of materials.

Pavilion Cladding

Finally, we experimented with different decorative techniques and materials to clad a pavilion structure.

This term, alongside swimming, Sri Lanka class have been developing their Orienteering skills! It was great fun!

In Geography, we have been learning how our local woodland is used. We visited Drinkfield Marsh in October where we asked the public questions from our questionnaire (qualitative data) and tallyed how people were using the Marsh when we were there (qualitative data). When we returned to school we created a graph of our results to find out that people use the marsh for exercise, walking dogs and relaxing!

In October, Year 4 hosted their annual Harvest Festival Assembly. We invited our families to donate food to our local food bank as part of this celebration at the same time as learning all about Harvest around the world.

This week, we used tone to make an observational line drawing look three dimensional and exploring different gradients of pencil.

Today, we applied an understanding of tone to the technique of hatching; using pattern and contrast when creating a mixed-media drawing based on the collage compositions from last lesson

Then we showcased our learning from across the unit by working as a class to create giant prints inspired by their collages and wax-resist drawings.
