This year, Japan class are lucky enough to have two teachers to teach them all there is to know throughout Year 3.
Mrs Cornish is teaching Monday, Tuesday and some of Wednesday morning. Mrs Pallister is teaching most of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Please see our timetable for which subjects will be taught when. We are so excited to be teaching our lovely Year 3 children and are looking forward to the new school year with them.
Key Information:
Our P.E. day is every Friday.
Homework is set on a Thursday to be returned the following Thursday.
We are contactable via Class Dojo, but please bear in mind that Class Dojo is not checked as frequently as other forms of communication. If you would like to get a message to us, please inform the school office.
We sang Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes in French and created our own video to show off our new language skills!
10.04.25 - Easter Fayre
Japan Class loved creating our Easter bonnets at home and showing them off at the fayre. We even made some Easter headbands in school for those children who wanted to create something and did not have the time to at home.
04.04.25 - NATRE Spirited Arts Competition
Our class entered the NATRE Spirited Arts Competition. This year, the theme was ‘Living in a Diverse World’. We interpreted that as everyone being unique and individual, but also belonging together in one community. We took inspiration from these two images, which used bright colours with layers of paper to create a collage. We were then given a template of 5 hands, coloured in each hand with a different colour to show everyone’s uniqueness and then looked at where the hands overlapped. This is how we celebrate diversity. We are very proud of our finished artwork!
06.03.25 - World Book Day
Year 3 Retelling of The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Miss Palmer taught us sign language to retell the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We then recorded sections of the book with Mrs Pallister, who then put together our year group video. We hope you enjoy it!
21.02.25
We made a video trailer using PowerPoint of well-known stories such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Tiger Who Came for Tea. We then watched each other's videos and gave feedback to evaluate the short films.
14.02.25
During E-Safety day, we learned about keeping safe online, including scamming. We looked at safe links and making sure we never click on a link we are unsure about and always tell a trusted adult first. We also talked about the information that is safe or unsafe to share online, such as personal details about ourselves. We wrote ‘top tips of how to keep safe online’ on a coin and then decorated our own E-safety money box to keep them all safe inside.
07.02.25 - Roman Shields
Today we made Roman shields (scutum) as part of our History topic on Romans. The children learned the names of all of the different equipment a soldier in the Roman army would have had, labelled this on a Roman soldier and made a shield. Next lesson we will use our shields to practice Roman army formations, to show exactly how shields were used to defend and attack.

Work we are proud of!
Please see below some work we are proud of so far, right at the very start of Year 3! Well done Japan class!
15.11.24 - Children in Need & A Million Dreams Artwork
Today, we had a very special artist visit our classroom to show us a specific art skill using oil pastels and mixed medium art...Mrs Cornish! As Mrs Cornish does not usually teach us on a Friday, we had two teachers today! What a treat! Mrs Cornish showed us how to layer different colours and blend these to form a background. We then drew our dreams and aspirations into different sized circles and glued these onto the background, adding a silhouette of a person and some thought bubbles to show us dreaming.
