On the 14th February, it was Internet Safety Day and we spent the day focussing on tasks related to this.
Our first task was thinking about who we share our information with. We then had some information that we had to correctly place in a venn diagram that consisted of 'friends', 'family' and 'people I know online'.
Our next task looked at how we should behave when using the internet. We looked at 4 different scenarios and decided how we would respond to these, lifting people up and making them feel better about themselves. We understood that we could be in control of making someone's day if we used our words wisely.
In maths, we recapped our multiplication and division unit by completing practical work on a whiteboard.
Take a look at our working out.
Take a look at our preparation for the Year 3 Showcase Assembly. We have been working hard in groups to present some amazing work to show to our families and friends what we have been learning about in Year 3.
In English we were annotating features of a persuasive letter. In order for us to write our own persuasive letter to Blue Peter. Fingers crossed we get a Blue Peter badge for our hard work and excellent persuasive language!
Take a look at some fantastic English work! We were learning about instructional texts and came up with our own way of 'How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth'.
In maths we have been looking at adding 2 three-digit numbers and exchanging our ones into a tens and our tens into hundreds. Take a look at our whiteboard work from our lesson where we focused on exchanging and showing this in our formal written method.
In Design Technology we are learning about Cooking and Nutrition, in the first lesson we looked at different types of food and how they are grown seasonally. Have a look at some of the children's work where they labelled foods found during each season in the UK.
In History we have started our new topic of Prehistoric Times. We used toilet rolls to create a physical timeline showing how far away prehistory was, each sheet on the toilet toll represented 1,000 years of history! We then realised it would take more than the roll of the toilet paper to reach prehistory as these events started in B.C.
Here are some images from the toilet roll activity:
In Science, our topic is Movement and Nutrition. In our first lesson we looked at skeletons and imagined what our bodies would look like without this. Using our new knowledge of joints, we made a model of a human skeleton using split pins to fix the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee joints together!
