We hope you enjoy looking through all the pictures of our marvellous children and following us on our Nursery adventure.
OUR FIRST WEEK IN NURSERY
We have loved getting to know our new friends and exploring our learning environment inside and out! We have been learning where all our resources are and how to put them back where they belong ‘Choose it, use it, put it away’. We have done a great job learning our nursery routines, sharing with friends and remembering to say please and thank you.
Exploring Colour
We’ve been busy looking at colours of the rainbow! Making collage rainbows, patchwork Elmer and Andy Warhol style Pop Art!
Our First Phonics & Maths
We practised our scissors skills and made some listening ears! We talked about how we can do good listening and had a listening walk around school. We heard all sorts of sounds! We’ve also been looking at quantities in maths and comparing them, big, bigger, small, smaller.
Jill Murphy
We have enjoyed reading some Jill Murphy books! We read ‘Peace at Last’ and used our listening ears to hear all the sounds Mr Bear could hear. We made a sound map of the story!
We also read ‘Whatever Next’ and used shapes and objects to make a rocket to take Baby Bear to the moon. We found our own space helmets and space boots and build some rockets outside. 3, 2, 1 Blast off!
We are Risk Takers
We have been practising our balance and coordination on the balance bikes. We know that we need to wear a helmet to protect our heads and to stay safe.
We’ve been learning about pattern, reading lots of stories with repeating refrains and making some shape patterns with 3D shapes and paint. We’ve also been using our super listening ears to identify mysterious objects in Miss Richardson’s bag.
We had a visit from Emily at Future Steps who showed some some great activities to improve our muscle memory.
Autumn
We have been on an autumn walk. We collected natural materials and looked for signs of autumn. Our leaves were great fun to play with in the class, we made leaf men and lovely patterns.
We looked at art work from the famous artist Kandinsky. We used paints and our knowledge of shape to make circular paintings.
Autumn Continued & Halloween!
We have been using our natural materials to make Autumnal transient art. We explored pumpkins of all shapes, sizes and colours. We used our senses to explore their external features and then we chopped one up and looked at the inside! We investigated the leaves in our outdoor area, we gave them a clean and watched to see if they would float or sink. We had the most fun at out Halloween party! Dancing, playing spooky games and making a Scarecrow. We called him Harry O'Hay!
Halloween Fun!
The Polar Bears had lots of fun celebrating Halloween! We practised our balancing by walking on the spider web, danced and chased bubbles, wrapped the mummy, cut open pumpkins and made a scarecrow that we called Harry O'Hay. We also enjoyed eating our spooky treats that we made earlier in the week, ghost bananas and mummy pizzas.
Fireworks Night!
The Polar Bears have enjoyed learning about fireworks this week. We used our listening skills to hear and mimic the sounds POP BANG CRACKLE WHIZZ! We learnt to use a pipette to drop food colouring into our water tray and watched the colours mingle and swirl. We also used pipettes to make some beautiful firework pictures with paint.
We loved reading Meg & Mog and making our own potions!
