Nursery- Polar Bears

Hello and welcome to the Polar Bears class page!

We hope you enjoy looking through all the pictures of our marvellous

children and following us on our Nursery adventure.

Marvellous Mini-Beasts

Polar Bears have had lots of fun exploring minibeasts. We looked at bugs that wiggle, bugs that crawl, bugs that fly and everything in between! We had lots of fun on our minibeast hunt exploring different habitats.

Life cycles

We LOVED exploring butterflies and frogs! We learnt all about their life cycle and how they change over time. We were very lucky to have some real caterpillars in our classroom which we really enjoyed watching over a few weeks. We learnt some new vocabulary including: metamorphosis, chrysalis, froglet and frogspawn.

Easter Fayre

We really enjoyed our Easter Fayre! It was a very sunny and very busy afternoon, but we sat beautifully and followed instructions. We listened to the choir sing their Easter song and watched Year 5 children dance around the Maypole. We loved parading around the yard to show off our amazing Easter bonnets!

The Easter bunny handed out prizes for his favourite hats. They were all so beautiful!

What can I Grow?

The Polar Bears have been exploring plants and growing. We learnt some new vocabulary including, soil, daffodil, root and stem. We read 'The Tiny Seed' and talked about what seeds need to grow and survive. We planted some sunflower seeds and bean seeds and also made some beautiful floral suncatcher!

We are looking forward to observing our plants and watching them change over time.

World Book Day

The Polar Bears have really enjoyed coming in dressed as their hobbies and interests! They loved reading 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' and made their own bear ears. We recorded a reading of the story. To watch our performance find us in the Video section of the website.

Lunar New Year

Wow! What a busy week we have had learning all about Lunar New Year. We read the Zodiac story about the great race to discover why this was the year of the snake and made our own money wallets and lanterns. We really enjoyed trying lots of different traditional Chinese foods including noodles with soy and sweet and sour sauce, spring rolls and prawn crackers. We especially enjoyed making our own fortune cookies with the playdough!

Polar Regions

We've had a chilly old time in Nursery, talking about winter and exploring the Polar Regions. We loved making Yummy melted snowmen biscuits and savoury polar bear snacks. In our craft area we have been exploring Polar landscape and made some penguin sculptures.

Welcome back Polar Bears! We hope you have all had a lovely Christmas!

A very warm welcome to our new Polar Bears. We have had a lovely week sharing our Christmas experiences, settling back into school routines and getting to know our new friends.

Christmas is nearly here! We've been busy preparing.

Space Week

Colours

The Polar Bears have loved exploring colour! We have been mixing paints to make new colours and finding colours in the environment. We read stories about Elmer the colourful elephant and made some colourful playdough. We had lots of fun decorating a biscuit in rainbow colours and even more fun eating them. We were delighted when we found rainbows in the classroom!

We loved reading 'Whatever Next' by Jill Murphy. We made our own rockets and found some space helmets to take us to the moon.

We had lots of fun making Polar Bear collages using lots of arctic coloured materials. We then put our own faces on.

Check out our display!

Here we are exploring our new classroom and getting to know our new friends.
