Hi everyone, below is some information and tasks relating to World War Two. One of you has been in touch and asked for some extra information, but you are all very welcome to use the resources! There's lots more available for free on Twinkl, just use the code CVDTWINKLHELPS.

I also wanted to let you know that I have set up a battle for you all on Times Tables Rockstars, it's boys vs girls and lasts for a week! I wonder which group will win? Good luck!

Hi everyone and welcome to another week! As you may know, today marks the beginning of Mental Health Awareness week.  Had we all been at school we would have recognised this with some fun activities (do you remember last years chewit challenge?) This year's theme is 'kindness'. If you would like to, please join in from home with the challenge of carrying out an act of kindness each day, be it for parents, grandparents or neighbours (some ideas are attached). If you do take part, please share what you do on our class blog!

Stay safe, Mrs Hetherington :-)

Daily kind act ideas

Some home learning reading ideas for you to have a go at completing

Hi everyone, hope you're all ok. Here are some more lesson ideas for you to have a go at this week. Remember to post on the class blog and let me know how you're getting on, I'd love to see some photos or videos!

Home learning.

Hi again Salvador, I just wanted to let you know that I have created you each an account on Times Tables Rockstars and Numbots, I will send the log in details to your grown-ups via Parentmail this week.  Also, Mrs Roberts has set you a challenge to see if you can log in and complete a quiz on accelerated reader - I know how good you all are at showing Mrs Roberts how much Salvador enjoy reading, let's make her happy and see if we can be the class that completes the most quizzes!

As we are now in the Summer term (our final term of Year 5!) I thought you might like some more home learning tasks to help you keep up with school work from home.

Hi guys, here's another website with some good online lessons for you all to do if you're running out of work.

https://stories.audible.com/start-listen

Audible have made lots of titles available for free whilst schools are closed. You do not need to create an account and you can listen to stories for free.  Remember to keep reading!

Here's a video showing how important it is to wash your hands correctly with soap and hot water.

https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resources/twinkl-partnerships/bbc-teach-live-lessons-partnerships

Twinkl has lots of BBC live lessons available (we've done some in school, remember the 500 word story and the mindfulness lesson). Use the code CVDTWINKLHELPS to get access.

If we'd still been at school this week, in Year 5 we would have been creating our own viking longboats. So we thought we'd set you a challenge and see if you can create one at home using materials you've got around the house. Here's a video link for inspiration (you might want to halve the measurements or your boat will be very big! There's also a template and booklet on the Sao Paulo class page on the school website if you want them) Good luck!

We are learning about the Anglo Saxons and have been creating our own Anglo Saxon style jewellery.

We really enjoyed Fitness Week and meeting an Olympic Gold Medallist!

We loved visiting the Planetarium

Children in Need day 2019!

Creating our own Moon Buggies!

Hello and welcome to Salvador's class page!

I am Mrs Hetherington and I am the class teacher in Salvador.  The children have settled back into school really well and we have all been having a great time learning about Brazil.  We have enjoyed learning some Portuguese, creating our own art work showing Christ the Redeemer, listening to Samba music and much more :-)

Please check back regularly for more updates!
