Cookery Club

To help fund our cookery club, Morrisons (North Road) and Tesco (Bishop Auckland) very kindly donated a voucher so that we were able to support our children's cookery skills!

Week 1

The children learnt how to set the table correctly before using the classroom computers to research a variety of recipes. They came up with a list of recipes that they might like to make in the coming weeks!

Week 2

This week, the children made pizzas! They explored a variety of toppings that they might use, as well as trying some ingredients that they weren't sure that they liked! Each week, our recipe will be added to our club's floor book before being made into our very own cookery book at the end of term!

Week 3

This week, the children made burgers with a side salad! They used mince to form their burger before using a frying pan to cook it, ensuring it was cooked thoroughly! The children talked about what could be added to the meal to enhance it - it was decided that a side salad would help consumers stay healthy.

Week 4

This week, the children made flapjacks. A simple recipe that was simply delicious! The children were able to measure out the correct ingredients before putting them al together. They had begun to realise that if the mixture was too 'wet' then more 'dry' was needed to balance it out.

Week 5

This week, the children made cheese cake! The children were surprised to find that there is actually cheese in this! They enjoyed crushing up the biscuits and learning that the melted butter 'sticks' it together for the base and that the cream became thick when it was whisked.

Week 6

This week, the children made chicken goujons with sweet potato fries. At first, the children were amazed that you could actually make your own goujons, let alone that you could add different flavours to it!

Week 7

This week, the children made Pesto Pasta with home made garlic bread! The children learnt how to cut bread safely as well as how to know when pasta is ready. They were able to smell the garlic and suggest ways that they could make this even more tasty!
