Empathy Day 2020

Empathy is the ability to understand and share another person's feelings - for example, think of a time when somebody you care about has felt a little upset or sad.. maybe you took the time to listen and understand why they were feeling sad, so that you could try to help them feel better. That is empathy!

Empathy Day was founded in 2017 by a charity called The Empathy Lab, who are on a mission to inspire the next generation (that's you!) to drive forward a new movement of empathy and understanding. Right now, we have never needed empathy more, because it's a really tricky time and everyone deals with things in their own way. We all need a little help from time to time, so don't be afraid to reach out if you are finding things hard. At the same time, it is equally important to reach out to others, to offer a helping hand or a hug :)

National Empathy Day is on the 9th of June, this year, but that's not to say that we can't access these resources whenever we want or need them! The Empathy Lab have lots of activities and online events going on, including some poets and authors reading poems/books, which focus on developing empathy.

People all around the country are getting involved, so join them here and see what it's all about:
