In Maths we will be learning about the number 9.

 

Every day we need you practise counting forwards and backwards from 0-20 (you can print the flashcards below or write numbers 0-20 on paper to help your child recognise the numerals too).

In school we will be exploring number 9. Please look through the ‘All about Number 9’ PowerPoint (below) and work through it with your child. Activities you can try at home:

 

Practise showing 9 on your fingers.

Order numbers; write the digits 0-9 (one on each piece of paper up to 9) and put them in the correct order.

 

Make a number line using the digits 0-10. Find 1 more and 1 less.

 

Now can you use a range objects around your home to…

Add up to 9?

Make 9?

Make 9 in different ways?

Practise writing the number 9.

Say the rhyme to help you form the numeral:

“Around her head and back to the top, down to the ground and then you stop.”

 

Now can you double numbers up to 9?

Sing the doubling song to help you.
