PHONICS

We will be consolidating our phonic knowledge this week.

Choose from one of the activities below to engage in.

Start phonics every day by practising the sounds we have learnt so far.

Watch Miss Chapman say the phase 2 phonemes.

https://harrowgate-hill-primary-school.primarysite.media/playlist/phonics-for-reception-or-anyone-else-who-wants-to-

Now practise saying the phonemes with her.

Download and print the letter cards.

Can you say all of the phonemes?

Can you write the graphemes?

Can you find things that start with that letter around the house?

You can try writing three letter words using the letters the children have been taught and see if they can blend them to read them. You could write a simple caption using the tree letter words to challenge yourself.

You can say a three letter word and see if they can write down the sounds they hear in the word spell it.

If you want to challenge your child, encourage them to write a caption or short sentence using the words they have learnt.

Visit phonics play and play a range of the phase 2 games. https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/2

Download the phase 2 word list to help you.
