LITERACY

Get your child to draw a polar animal. They can use the PowerPoint from Monday or pictures on the internet to help them know what it looks like. Can you find out any facts about the animal on-line. Help your child to write a sentence about it. Encourage them to write the sounds they can hear in each word rather than copy your writing.

i.e. The polar bear is big.   (They will probably write something like ‘The polr ber is big’, that is fine, they are just getting used to writing down the sounds they hear in words)

Use wide lined paper or draw lines for your child to write on. Encourage them to use spaces between each word. They can put their finger or use a lolly stick or something thin to make a space. If it helps you can draw a line for each word they want to write to help with spaces.
